Application

Petroleum jelly, as a medium-strength kerosene cut, offers many uses in pharmaceutical and cosmetic applications. It is very often used as a base for creams and lotions, especially in connection with cold and skin protection. In addition, pharmaceutical petrolatum is an important component in products for human and veterinary medicine. Its paraffin-typical chemical properties, such as hydrophobicity, inertness and resistance, ensure a wide range of applications.

Precautions

Wash hands and other exposed body parts with mild soap and water before eating, drinking or smoking and when leaving the workplace. Provide process area with good ventilation to prevent formation of vapors.

Vaseline from modern production facilities is manufactured from various petroleum cuts using vacuum distillation and is refined to high-purity grades by purification processes. The product has pharmaceutical status according to the European Pharmacopoeia (Ph.Eur.), the British Pharmacopoeia (BP) and the US Pharmacopoeia (USP).
