Lamp oil
What is lamp oil?
Lamp oil is the oil that is burnt in oil lamps. The term is not standardised in the EU, which is why it can be recognised in the trade as petroleum, paraffin oil, liquid paraffin or isoparaffin.
What is lamp oil used for?
Lamp oil provides particularly bright and long-lasting lighting for oil candles, oil lamps and torches both indoors and outdoors. It can also be used in petroleum-based camping cookers and can be used as a lighting aid for charcoal and as a firelighter, making it the perfect companion for campers and trekkers.
What properties does the product have?
Burnt lamp oil is extremely bright and also very long-lasting. A positive feature compared to naphthenic products is that it burns soot-free and almost odourless, which is why it can be used indoors without any problems.
How is lamp oil produced?
There is no single manufacturing process for lamp oil, as the term itself is merely a generalisation of several petroleum-based substances. One manufacturing method, which is also used to produce our paraffinic lamp oil, is refining.
