Glycerine 86 % (vegetable), n. PH. EUR, non-gmo

What is glycerine ?

Glycerol is the common name for popane-1,2,3-triol. It is a trivalent alcohol, a polyol. Glycerine is obtained from the splitting of animal and vegetable fats.

Where is vegetable glycerine contained?

Vegetable glycerine is used in cosmetics, for example in lotions or creams, and as a formulation component of hand sanitisers due to its water-binding and fat-blocking properties. It is also used as a base product in cosmetics and pharmaceuticals. Due to its sweet flavour, vegetable glycerine is often contained in food supplements, e.g. in dietary products. It is also used as a base for e-cigarettes, liquids and shisha tobaccos.

What is vegetable glycerine used for?

Thanks to its flavour and ability to bind water, it is often used in the food industry as it prevents baked goods and other foods from drying out. However, it has a wide range of uses, including in the cosmetics industry as a moisturiser and in pharmaceutical applications. It is also used as an antifreeze in technical applications and in the food sector and is also used as a lubricant or plasticiser in gelatine coatings. It is also used as a solvent, carrier and solubiliser for flavourings, colourings, antioxidants, tobacco and enzymes.

How is glycerine produced?

Glycerol is produced by splitting fats.

The alcohol can also be produced chemically as a by-product in soap production. In the past, mainly animal fats were used for this purpose.

Another very important way to obtain glycerol is in biodiesel production. Here it is produced as a by-product through the transesterification of vegetable oils with methanol.

This was my first order from chemiekontor. There are a few peculiarities where I live that still need to be clarified. However, the phone call with an employee has been promising so far. Delivery was super fast!

Great shop, fast delivery & good service! The only thing is that the selection is unfortunately not so big, but it's okay. Otherwise everything TOP!

Super satisfied and would be happy to order from Chemiekontor again at any time. Uncomplicated and fast goods, yes well cardboard reworked by GIs, but that would be complaining at a high level, so everything is chic! Thumbs up.
