Glycerine 86 % (technical)
What is glycerine ?
Glycerol is the common name for propane-1,2,3-triol. It is a simple trivalent alcohol, a polyol. Glycerine is obtained from the splitting of animal and vegetable fats.
What is technical glycerine used for?
Technical glycerine has many applications due to its product properties. In addition to its use in leather care products and lubricants, it is also used as a coolant and antifreeze. It is used as a solar fluid in PV or similar systems in which heat needs to be supplied or dissipated.
How is glycerine produced?
Glycerol is produced by splitting fats.
The alcohol can also be produced chemically as a by-product in soap production. In the past, mainly animal fats were used for this purpose.
Another very important way to obtain glycerol is in biodiesel production. Here it is produced as a by-product through the transesterification of vegetable oils with methanol.
