Sunflower oil, refined

How is sunflower oil produced?

In the past, sunflower oil was only obtained by cold pressing. This production method is still used today, but sunflower oil is now increasingly produced by hot pressing. In this process, the sunflower seeds are pressed through so-called screw presses and then partially extracted and refined. This ensures a higher quality and shelf life of the oil.

What are the properties of sunflower oil?

The colour of sunflower oil obtained by cold pressing is light yellow, whereas it is reddish yellow when hot pressed. However, the refining and extraction process gives it back its light yellow and clear colour.

Where is sunflower oil used?

Sunflower oil is used in many areas. It is best known for its use as an edible oil, for example in salad dressings, uncooked dishes and a number of sauces. It is also often the basis for mayonnaise preparations or margarine products. In this country in particular, sunflower oil is highly valued as a high-quality vegetable oil. In the pharmaceutical and medical sectors, it is used in ointments, creams and in the treatment of rheumatism. In the technical sector, it is often used as an ingredient in paints or varnishes and helps in the production of biodiesel.

What is high-oleic sunflower oil?

High-oleic sunflower oil is obtained from specially bred plants. The speciality of this sunflower is that it has an oleic acid content of 80 - 90 %, whereas the normal sunflower has a content of approx. 25 %. This makes the HO sunflower particularly suitable for technical purposes, for example in the production of lubricants. It is also characterised by its high heat and oxidation stability and is therefore ideal for frying and deep-frying. It can also be found in a number of foods as well as in high-quality cosmetic products.

This was my first order from chemiekontor. There are a few peculiarities where I live that still need to be clarified. However, the phone call with an employee has been promising so far. Delivery was super fast!

Great shop, fast delivery & good service! The only thing is that the selection is unfortunately not so big, but it's okay. Otherwise everything TOP!

Super satisfied and would be happy to order from Chemiekontor again at any time. Uncomplicated and fast goods, yes well cardboard reworked by GIs, but that would be complaining at a high level, so everything is chic! Thumbs up.
