Applications
This monohydric alcohol has long been used as an alcoholic solvent and cleaning agent in the chemical industry, or as an additive in antifreeze products for the automotive sector. Thanks to its high solvent power, it is also used, amongst other things, in offset printing and other cleaning processes, as well as in metal casting. Furthermore, it serves as a base for surface disinfectant products.

Precautionary Measures
Wash hands and other exposed parts of the body with mild soap and water before eating, drinking or smoking, and when leaving the workplace. Ensure the process area is well ventilated to prevent the build-up of vapours. Do not expose to open flames. No smoking. Use only non-sparking tools. Avoid inhaling dust, fumes, gas, mist, vapour or aerosols. Use only outdoors or in well-ventilated areas. Wash hands, forearms and face thoroughly after use.

Further information: As a result of the pandemic spread of known viruses, there is increased demand in Germany for isopropyl alcohol-based hand sanitisers, and due to the general shortage in pharmacies and chemists, the Federal Office for Chemicals issued a notice on 4 March 2020, as the competent authority, following consultation with the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety, issued a general order authorising biocidal products containing 2-propanol for hygienic hand disinfection in accordance with Article 55(1) of Regulation (EU) No 528/2012. This general decision will cease to apply on 31 August 2020. Consequently, these products may be used as a basis for disinfection until the decision expires.
Storage
Store only in the original container in a cool, well-ventilated place. Keep the container sealed when not in use. Avoid direct sunlight.
